Did you know that today is International Women in Diplomacy Day?
Today, we celebrate the remarkable women who have represented Dominica on the regional and international stage, helping to shape policy, strengthen partnerships, and elevate our nation's voice around the world.
Among them are:
• Patricia Scotland – The first woman to serve as Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, leading efforts to promote democracy, sustainable development, and cooperation among 56 member nations.
• Sylvanie Burton – Dominica's first female President, whose leadership and representation continue to inspire women and girls across the Caribbean and beyond.
• Francine Baron – A distinguished diplomat and former Minister for Foreign Affairs who played a key role in strengthening Dominica's international relations and regional cooperation.
• Loreen Bannis-Roberts – An accomplished diplomat who has represented Dominica at the United Nations and served as Ambassador to several countries, advancing the nation's interests on the global stage.
Their achievements remind us that diplomacy is not only about representing a country—it is about building bridges, fostering peace, and creating opportunities for future generations.
