Vincent Chair, A Gesture Cast in Time.

Born from the precision of a high-tech manufacturing process based on aluminum injection, the Vincent Chair unfolds as a continuous, organic gesture that resonates with the human body while maintaining a universal capacity to inhabit any context or space.

The restless brushstrokes of Vincent van Gogh are not depicted, but transformed. They are cast into matter, translated into a contemporary language that allows them to persist beyond the canvas.

What once lived in paint now endures in form. A gesture suspended in time, resisting its passage, and quietly attuned to the present.

Vincent Chair, More Than Just a Chair.

The Vincent Chair is far more than a chair. It is the materialization of one of the most extraordinary works in the history of art. Through its organic form, it seeks to express the trials and passions of the temperamental and eloquent Vincent van Gogh.

Its formal dynamism flows in harmony with the expressive and impassioned brushstrokes of this remarkable artist, creating a convergence in which the boundaries between seemingly opposing concepts become blurred, merging into an object in which the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

In this way, a dialogue is established between the present and the past, between the modern and the traditional, the technological and the artisanal, between Design and Art. A dialogue that transcends the barriers of time and space, allowing an icon of human history to engage with the needs and emotions of contemporary material culture.

Vincent Chair, A Self Portrait.

The masterpiece “Van Gogh’s Chair”, exhibited at the National Gallery in London, was created alongside another depicting Gauguin’s Chair during Vincent’s stay in Arles. Instead of portraying his friend, Van Gogh chose to immortalize his chair, and, in doing so, his workspace. He approached himself in the same way. Both paintings, or portraits, attempt to express the contrasting temperaments and interests of the two artists.

The chair, placed diagonally, dominates the foreground, as if it were a self-portrait in its most expressive form. The artist is represented through two objects: his inseparable pipe with to***co and a basket of sunflowers. The painting, imbued with the presence of its creator, radiates a vibrant sense of serenity. At that time, Vincent was experiencing a period of relative happiness, nothing foreshadowed the tragic episode of the severed ear, which would mark the collapse of his dreams of a shared artistic life.

Kalasin Washbasin, Naturalized by Design Media.

The Kalasin washbasin, designed for Bathco, has been featured in several specialized design media, most notably in AD España magazine, issue 206 (May 2025), one of the leading international publications in architecture, interior design, and contemporary design.

Its presence in the magazine highlights the growing interest in proposals that, starting from everyday objects, explore connections between form, material, and nature. In this case, a geometry inspired by tree bark and organic growth patterns resonates within a context that values both formal innovation and conceptual depth in the creative design process.

Kalasin Washbasin, Inspired by Nature.

The wooden skin of the Kalasin washbasin, designed for Bathco, is defined by longitudinal striations that, like the bark of a tree, reflect its radial growth structure, with wrinkles and cracks endlessly circling the entire circumference.

The alignment of the bark fibers parallel to the tree’s axis is essential for resisting mechanical and natural stresses, helping to minimize the risk of transverse fractures. This is Nature whispering the ancient language of resilience: the quiet strength to endure tension, to rise without breaking, to reach ever upward.

Kalasin’s longitudinal striations evoke the upward growth pattern of the tree’s structure, which, like life itself, is grounded in strong roots and rises with the strength and momentum of a trunk. A trunk that ultimately opens and lifts its arms in a longing to reach the sky.

Design, Passion & Commitment.

Our team is composed of a heterogeneous, dynamic, and multidisciplinary group of professionals who love what they do and do what they love. The studio is led by Lucio Traficante, a product designer widely recognized for his award-winning designs and numerous publications throughout his career.

When defining the secret of his achievements, Lucio Traficante prefers to attribute them to two simple concepts: commitment and passion.

Commitment, that allows him to understand Design as a vindicating element of the contemporary man against a material culture that expands voraciously under the rules and demands of the market.

Passion, that turns him into a kind of modern poet who interprets the emotions and feelings of the user, like the words of a poem in which the prose materializes to describe the human heart.

WRI Prize for Cities, Made by Nature.

Always with sustainability in mind, the Prize for Cities trophies were brought to life through an innovative and eco-friendly sand 3D printing process.

The pieces were expertly crafted by Sandhelden using binder jetting technology—a zero-waste process that employs a layering system to shape objects. During the printing process, multiple layers of quartz sand are bonded together with binder agents derived from renewable resources, such as sugarcane, corn husks, and rice hulls.

The result is a stunning collection of pieces that showcase exceptional formal complexity and eloquence, proving that the only technical limitation is human creativity.

WRI Prize for Cities, The Whole is Greater than the Sum of its Parts.

Always drawing from nature as a source of learning and inspiration, the trophy design emphasizes the importance of individual details while simultaneously demonstrating that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

The design concept behind this organic trophy cannot be reduced to a single natural reference or idea. Paradoxically, it is both nothing and everything at once. Its design seeks to uncover a universal language of organic forms—not to imitate mother nature in its finished shapes, but to express its essence, its soul. In other words, it aims to represent the intrinsic structures and underlying processes that shape nature and keep the flame of life alive.

WRI Prize for Cities, Our Responsibility as Designers.

The trophy awarded to the four Prize for Cities finalists has also been 3D printed using sand, but in a darker gray tone to distinguish it from the winner’s trophy.

Amid an increasingly segmented and specialized world, full of ephemeral and shallow connections, where trends follow one after the other, we are keenly aware of our responsibility as designers, so we strive to create objects that justify their existence and earn their rightful place on this planet.

A universal and timeless object, capable of adapting to any space and context as well as lasting over time. Because in such a dizzying era where fashions quickly succeed one another, there is no more honest and sustainable object than the one designed to withstand the test of time.
