The Montessori concept

We believe in the importance of empowering children to do things on their own. Inspired by the learning method of the Italian doctor Maria Montessori, this child-centered educational approach is based on scientific observations of children. Maria Montessori’s method has been used for over 100 years all over the world.

We have focussed on two main aspects: The specialized educational materials developed by Montessori made out of natural & aesthetic materials such as wood, organic cotton, recycled paper etc. And the practical life curriculum that provides sequences for these everyday routines and practices such as dressing yourself or washing the hands.

In mimOOkids, we provide innovative dressing solutions adapted to the children’s ages. It boosts the self-confidence, the colour learning & fine motor skills of toddlers and children aged 1 to 8 years. Our goal is to achieve that great smile of proud & happiness on the face of our children.

Monika, the founder & designer of mimOOkids, was tired of tiny openings for big children’s heads and impossible closings for small hands. Monika had worked for a decade in the fashion industry and her passion drived her to innovate in the design process.

Since she turned into a mother of two very independent toddlers, she wanted to give little children the possibility to be more autonomous in their daily tasks. How was it possible to find hundreds of fashionable and funny kids brands, but none of these put the children in the centre of their design process. It was nearly impossible to achieve that her sons dressed on their own. mimOOkids Barcelona was born in 2018 with the desire to add a new purpose to kids clothing.

To push their learning-process & have simply more fun as a family. And we were eager to manage it in the most sustainable way for our planet & our local economy.

Since 2019 we sell our items in Family Concept Stores all over the world. And in 2020 we have started to collaborate with schools to design educational & sustainable work attires for their centres.

Yes, we are GREEN! After a decade working with the Fast Fashion Industry, we wanted to create long-lasting and time-less styles that offer an addtional educational value. You can combine, share and pass on our style between family members and friends since they are unisex and their cutting patterns allow the use during a longer period even years. We use only the best organic, recycled and sustainable materials to close the loop of the Fashion Business. We design and produce in small factories KmO in Barcelona, Spain to be closer to you and reduce the green footprint. Made with love and respect for the nature!
