Making it to the start line was already a win.

After months out with illness, Leonie Konczalla started again from zero, qualified in Kalmar in her first race of the year and returned to Kona. And finally, on a brutal day in the heat, she fought her way to the finish in 26th.

What we appreciate about Leo has nothing to do with her race results. She’s a doctor, a scientist and a professional athlete. The day before flying to Kona, she defended her second doctoral thesis (which actually is beyond us 🤯). Building a career as a doctor while chasing success as a professional athlete takes a rare kind of balance — not to mention an incredible amount of discipline and organizational skills. She shows that there is so much more to life than sport, and that both can exist side by side.

We’ve been part of your journey for many years, Leonie, and we couldn’t be prouder. Thank you for reminding us that the most powerful stories aren‘t always written at the front of the race.

Your story feels close to home for everyone who fits training around a full-tome job and still dares to dream big, Leonie Konczalla 💌
