Hip packs!

Looking for a small, big or “in-between” one? We’ve got it!

Kukkaro: Capacity ca. 1.5 litres. The smallest of the bunch, still roomy enough to carry more than just a phone and wallet.

Suur-kukkaro: Capacity ca. 2,6 litres. The bigger sibling of the Kukkaro, same basic layout but considerably larger. Still sensibly compact.

Askare: Capacity ca. 7 litres. The biggest of the bunch, fits all sorts of specialists equipment and can even fill the need of a compact daypack.

All our hip packs can also be worn as quick-detachable attachment on most of our backpacks, giving you some extra versatility when building your own modular setups.

These also feature numerous external attachment points for PALS attachable pouches, elastic cord tricks etc. offering you the option to scale up with various attachments.

Hawu 8 - update and re-release!

The Hawu tents are back, and better than before. We have spent the past few years updating the design with numerous little improvements.

The “thing” with the Hawu tent is the two-part design. The tent splits into two halves for easier transport and enables you to pitch it around a tree trunk, offering both camouflage from aerial surveillance and versatility in varying terrain. The tent halves can also be pitched as separate shelter halves.

The Hawu tent does not use corner poles, just a centre pole (or tree trunk) and stakes, making pitching quick and easy. The corner guy lines do not require any knots, these are made from webbing with cam buckles for tension adjustment.

Made for arctic use, compatible with stoves for heating. We also have a new stove, the TK26, coming, which is designed for these tents.

Compared to the old Hawu 8 the new design retains the overall shape, size and function, but with a number of refinements:
- Improved rainproof zipper covers to prevent water ingress.
- Reversed assembly zippers, the coil is now on the inside, protected from freezing.
- Improved drying pole/line attachment points to prevent water ingress.
- Improved spring loaded cam buckles for corner guy line webbing adjustment.
- Triangular entrance with straight zipper for easier use and durability, the opened entrance also acts as a “heat curtain” when hanging inside the tent.
- Detachable stove jack and stove port cover, you can cover up the stove port when not using a stove.
- Waterproof coated fabric, same as on our other field camp tents.

NOTE! The new Hawu tent halves are NOT compatible with the older versions!

Kantamus 60L x Hatka 12L

Clip the Hatka 12L to your Kantamus for an additional 12 litres of capacity and a quickly detachable daypack. For this you will need to add four 25 mm female side-release buckles, like the PALS mount variant shown here, to the Hatka.

Don’t pack your Hatka too heavy though when doing this, you want to keep it relatively light to keep things balanced. Add water and other heavy items after detaching the Hatka for use as a daypack.

And yes, this trick works with any of our packs that have two side compression straps per side.

Niukka 20L - versatility and modding options

Although lean and clean in design the Niukka 20L offers a lot of options for tweaking and external carriage. And in case you didn’t know: “niukka” is Finnish for meager or lean, we’re quite literal sometimes with our product naming.

Showcased on our YouTube video are just some of the most common examples, hip pack quick attachment, bigger bundles strapped to the bottom etc. This should give you a good idea of what you can do with some imagination and suitable accessories!

So, get yourself some buckles, elastic cord and packing straps and go tweak your Niukka!

Niukka x Rintamus & Suur-Kukkaro

Both the Suur-Kukkaro hip pack and Rintamus chest pack can be neatly strapped as add-on pouches to backpacks. This gives you a neat organizer pouch which can quickly be removed from the backpack and carried independently as needed.

Pictured here is the Niukka 20L with our Suur-Kukkaro and Rintamus, as the Niukka has G-hook side compression straps you don’t need any additional buckles to do this, just hook the hip or chest pack directly to the G-hooks and your good to go!

This same trick also works with our bigger Askare hip pack. Also our smallest Kukkaro hip pack can be attached in this manner, due to it’s smaller size and design it attaches horizontally and to two instead of four side compression straps.

And yes, you can do this with any of our packs with four side compression straps. The Kahakka series have G-hooks on them so they work exactly like the Niukka (pictured here). The Kantamus and Jääkäri series of backpacks have side-release buckles on their side compression straps, so you’ll have to add suitable female side-release buckles to the hip/chest pack for this (or swap the side-release buckles with G-hooks).

As a family company with more than seven decades of history, we wanted to pay tribute to one of our oldest logos. For this reason, we have now acquired a batch of handmade leather patches with this logo.

Made in Finland by .wander , available in low key black and brown.

New product release: Rintamus chest pack

Yes, we finally did a chest pack! The Rintamus is based on our Suur-Kukkaro hip pack, sharing the same shape, size and many features, but adapted for chest carry.

Versatile internal compartments and organization options, PALS webbing on the front and bottom for attaching small pouches, elastic cord loops and gear.

The body side is made from 3D mesh for ventilation and comfort, sewn to form an open-ended compartment for stowing flat items (papers, maps etc.).

The 25 mm webbing X-harness has an elastic webbing loop in the neck, offering comfort via stretching with your body and movements. The harness attaches to the pack via SR buckles.

“Isn’t a 25 mm webbing harness too narrow?” No, it really isn’t. The pack itself is quite compact in size so you won’t be loading it too heavy. The slim harness is unobtrusive when carried under a backpack.

With the harness removed you can also clip the Rintamus directly to your backpack shoulder straps or side compression straps. The disconnected harness can be stowed into the open-ended compartment on the body side of the pack.

Available in green, brown, black, M05 woodland, Multicam and Multicam Tropic. All colour options offer good NIR performance.

Askare x doggy things

The Askare hip pack has you covered when you need to carry a little something for both yourself and your furry friend. This spacious hip pack carries a total of ca. 7 litres, enough to fit snacks and other necessities to keep you both going.

Due to the large size the Askare carries best on your lower back. Access is easy, just turn the pack to your front for rummaging, zip it up and turn it around to your back when you’re done. The belt strap is also long enough for sling pack carry across your back.

Internally the bag features a number of options for organizing your gear: elastic webbing loops of various size, flat compartments, tie-down loops and a loop surface for attaching hook-backed organizers.

A large, open-ended flat compartment on the back of the pack has a removable closed cell foam pad inside and allows you to stow the waist strap away if needed. PALS webbing on the sides and front allows for attaching pouches or securing gear with elastic cords.
