Via • Clothing designer, artisan and entrepreneur Elina Korri is the founder of Sustinare, a Finnish business network pioneering sustainable principles by blending traditional textile techniques with modern eco-conscious practices. Under her leadership, Sustinare specializes in upcycled garments and visible mending—transforming repairs into unique design elements while championing circular economy values.
Visible mending plays a viable role by extending the lifespan of garments and reducing textile waste. Rather than discarding damaged clothing, visible mending encourages repair and reuse, keeping materials in use longer and reducing the need for new garments. Through repair and maintenance services, Sustinare emplifies how traditional craftsmanship can actively contribute to a more responsible and circular approach to consumerism.
Elina Korri is involved in the Hands Across Generations (H.A.G.) project as a trainer. She will lead one of the sustainability training workshops, sharing her expertise in versatile textile knowledge and sustainable craft entrepreneurship. Through her mentorship, Elina facilitates intergenerational knowledge exchange, helping younger trainees integrate sustainability principles with traditional craft skills. Her role will support our project’s goal of preserving intangible cultural heritage while promoting responsible and eco-friendly vocational craft education.
