Today Facebook reminded me that it's 5 years ago since our class exhibited our own furniture at Stockholm Furniture Fair, 5 years! It was the most challenging, and at the same time most rewarding, experience of my furniture design studies.

Q& Rocker
Material: Powder-coated aluminum and cushions that are sewed to fit the product perfectly.

I have always loved the combination of history and design together. So when our class chose the theme Back to the Roots for Stockholm Furniture Fair 2012, I knew that this would be a great theme for me. The history of the rocking chair goes back to the middle of the 18th century and is still a product that engages many of us, both young and old. With the theme Back to the Roots I wanted to look at this classic with new eyes and renew something that once belonged to the old.

Q& Rocker was exhibited at Stockholm Furniture Fair in Stockholm 7-11.2.2012, at Galleri Campus in Turku 16.2-23.3.2012 and at Design Forum in Helsinki 4-16.5.2012.

Visual Merchandising
Work placement: Visual merchaniser at Sokos Mylly in Raisio.

For a few weeks I did a work placement at Sokos Mylly in Raisio, where I was working as a stylist and visual merchandiser. I got to do a various of styling projects for both store presentation styling and shop window styling.

Sokos sells everything from female, male and kids clothing to shoes, underwear, accessories and beauty products.

Q& Culture Chair
Material: Bended birch vaneer.

In cooperation with Huonekalutehdas Korhonen Oy we, as second year designstudents at Novia University of Applied Sciences, got the assignment to plan and produce a chair for Turku Capital of Culture 2011. HKT Korhonen was looking for a new design for a chair that would be used in public areas, be possible to stack and in some way be made out of bended vaneer.

By analyzing all the other products that HKT Korhonen were selling at that time, I wanted to interpret their expertise in bended wood and create something that was closely connected to Capital of Culture design. The result was a beautiful chair with a lot of interesting features, such as the bended seat and HKT Korhonens traditional stool legs.
