To take crotch measurement (also called rise or crotch depth) accurately, follow these steps:

1. For Crotch Depth (Sitting Method):
- Have the person sit upright on a flat, hard surface (like a chair or table).
- Place a ruler vertically from the surface up to the natural waistline (not hips).
- The length from the surface to the waist is the crotch depth.

2. For Crotch Length (Standing Method):
- Have the person stand straight.
- Measure from the front waist, through the legs (under the crotch), up to the back waist
- Use a flexible tape and keep it snug but not tight.
- This is called the crotch or rise measurement

Always ensure the tape follows the natural contour of the body for accuracy.
