A moment from Étretat in Normandy that still lingers with me—where the cliffs stand like silent guardians and the sea never quite repeats itself.

Some places don’t feel like a visit, they feel like a memory you’ve just stepped back into.
Standing there, it’s easy to imagine how the Impressionists saw the world: not as something fixed, but something constantly shifting—colour, movement, atmosphere. It’s no surprise artists like Claude Monet were drawn to this coastline; every glance feels like a painting still drying in the wind.
And yet beyond the beauty, there’s also a quiet reminder of value—how travel, time, and simple moments like this become the richest things we ever “spend” on. 🇫🇷

Looking to walk into the blue this weekend? Search up these bluebell walks with easy downloadable directions to follow.

Berkshire (near Reading)
Basildon Park has a brand new bluebell trail which takes you into woodland previously inaccessible to the public. Search 'Basildon Park bluebell trail' or ask for directions at visitor reception.

Oxfordshire (near Henley-on-Thames)
Nuffield Place's bluebells are in the woodland part of the garden and so perfect for those who can't walk far. Ask at visitor reception for directions. Nuffield Place is also a great starting point for longer bluebell walks in the surrounding countryside.

Buckinghamshire (near Maidenhead)
Cliveden's bluebell walk is a 2-mile loop from the Information Centre, where you can pick up the free bluebell walk leaflet.

Hampshire (near Alresford)
Hinton Ampner's 4-mile dog-friendly trail takes in farm fields, grand tree avenues and glorious bluebell woodlands. Search 'Hinton Ampner Dutton estate walk' for trail directions.

Surrey (near Guildford)
Hatchland's easy 2-mile walk cuts across the centre of the estate and handily, if you have kids with you, passes the children's adventure area. The route is waymarked with purple arrows, or search 'The Wix Wood walk at Hatchlands Park'.

West Sussex (near East Grinstead)
Standen's 3-mile bluebell walk takes in the whole Standen estate and wider countryside. Search 'Bluebell walk at Standen' for directions.

East Sussex (near Uckfield)
Sheffield Park's woodlands are turning blue and you're welcome to wander, or join a bluebell walk with a ranger on select dates in April. You could even join a bluebell photography workshop. Search 'Bluebell photography workshop' or 'Guided bluebell walk' at Sheffield Park and Garden.

Kent (near Westerham)Chartwell's 1.5-mile bluebell walk takes in views across Winston Churchill's home and the Weald. Search 'Mariners Hill from Chartwell walk'.
