🍂CARNYX🍂
Hear the sound of the latest carnyx echoing in the landscape!
Rafael came all the way from Munich to pick up his carnyx. This is a low mouthpiece carnyx, in C minor / E-flat major, with a curved mouthpiece.
Of course, the curvature of the mouthpiece and the tuning are modern additions to make it convenient to play. The melody played in the video is also modern, as no one can know what the Celts of the 2nd Iron Age used to play on these instruments. All the tones and notes, however, are the same as those of the original carnyces, because all the dimensions of the instrument and the mouthpiece were recreated following archaeological sources.
So if you are coming to see a very archaeologically accurate carnyx, in terms of how it was played or the type of mouthpiece, you are not in the right place, and you can already restrain yourself from commenting that this is not the good mouthpiece, or that this is not how it is supposed to be played (or whatever it means...). You'll save yourself and everyone time and energy.
