Cette planche naturaliste de Friedrich Wilhelm Winter est extraite de l’atlas ponctuant Cephalopoda, une synthèse rédigée par le biologiste et explorateur Carl Chun. Son travail est issu des découvertes de la première grande expédition scientifique dans les grands fonds marins, menée à bord du “Valdivia” entre 1898 et 1899.

🌊 Une plongée inédite dans les profondeurs marines
Cette expédition pionnière a permis de révéler la richesse insoupçonnée des abysses, un monde jusque-là inconnu, peuplé de créatures extraordinaires. Carl Chun et son équipe ont ainsi marqué l’histoire des sciences naturelles en documentant de nombreuses espèces marines, dont certaines observées pour la première fois.
