Congratulations to the director Alice Diop for her recent recognition award.

Alice Diop, born 1979 in Aulnay-sous-Bois, France is a director of Senegalese descent with a Masters in history and a Doctorate in visual sociology.

She studied documentary filmmaking at La Femis in Paris and has written and directed several documentaries.

With Saint Omer Alice Diop announces herself as a talent in the world of fiction filmmaking.

The director won the Silver Lion Grand Jury prize at the Venice Film Festival.

The French documentarian's first narrative feature takes inspiration from a real-life trial of a Senegalese woman accused of infanticide, exploring the nature of motherhood, justice and the Black immigrant experience.

In this first episode of our new video series, Nebua World has the pleasure to talk with Eleonora Rocca.

Among the first women to deal with innovation and digital strategies in Italy, Eleonora Rocca is Roman by birth and Londoner by adoption.

She graduated in Law and holds a Master’s Degree in Marketing and Communication from il Sole 24 Ore Business School and a Specialization Course in Evolution Marketing and Social Media from IED.

Her rich curriculum includes meaningful experiences in Marketing and Sales in Hewlett Packard, Roberto Cavalli, Privalia, Microsoft, Kingston Technology, TP-LINK, and ZONES inc.

She made her entrepreneurial dream come true by founding by herself “Mashable Social Media Days”, which later became “Digital Innovation Days”, one of the most important Italian events about Digital Marketing, Social Media, and Innovation. She was Director from 2014 to 2019 until her exit in 2020.

She is now Co-founder, Vice-president, and Chief Marketing Officer of Horizone Group Ltd and Founder, Managing Director of WomenX Impact the largest international event about female empowerment and leadership!

Let’s talk about your brand. Could you share with us your mission?
My mission is to have a space where I am able to make positive changes in society, through creativity and using my channels as a platform for the causes I care about the most. Truth is, it takes a little effort from each one of us to obtain a fairer society, but indifference is preventing us from reaching that goal.

Tell us about the turning point of your project or your activity.
The Nebua meetup in Bologna 2020 was one of the key moments for my network, I have met other outstanding young black female entrepreneurs, also in vadoinafrica.com I have met some like-minded people and grew my network from then on meeting other industrious and interesting people.

Last but not least, what does make your business stand out?
I have always had a passion for painting and drawing, so from concept to the printed fabric Almaz textiles are unique, one of a kind. I am aiming at improving, developing new patterns and using new sustainable materials. Stay tuned!

All the world is celebrating the legacy of Serena Williams after she announced her retirement!
Williams, the little black girl from Compton, today better known as the greatest tennis player in the history of the sport, win after win, redefined the exclusionary culture of tennis, on her terms.

Serena was born in 1981 and by the age of 14, she had already taken up professional tennis. She won her first ever US Open in 1999 at 17. In total, Serena has won 23 Grand Slam titles, 4 Olympic golds, and 73 single titles and she earned the position as the "Number 1 female Tennis Player" by the "Women's Tennis Association" for 319 weeks in a row.

But there were not just only "happy days"!
Serena has also faced a lot of downs during her career, mainly relating to injury but we loved how she faced off every situation!

"I really think a champion is defined not by their wins but by how they can recover when they fall." Williams said!

And we loved how she was grateful for her family's support during the "US Open 2022".
"I wouldn’t be Serena if it wasn’t for Venus."
Serena thanks her big sister, seven-time major champion Venus Williams, for driving her to become arguably the greatest women’s tennis player of all time.

"When the world wanted her to be less powerful, she hit even harder.
She refused to hide her flair, or what was on her mind. She couldn’t stop winning. Over and over and over again.
She didn’t change who she was, and that changed everything, for all of us."

She is Serena Williams! She’s not retiring, just evolving (always with style)!

The Barbie Inspiring Women Series pays tribute to incredible heroines of their time.
Madam C.J. Walker finally joined Barbie's lineup of Inspiring Women dolls.

A Black entrepreneur, philanthropist, and activist, her line of hair and cosmetic products for Black women propelled her to become the first female self-made millionaire in America.

Madam Walker's great-great-granddaughter and official biographer, A'Lelia Bundles, worked with to create the new doll

"It means a lot that a child can look at a doll, can have a doll that looks like them," Bundles said. "And it doesn't mean that Black children should only have Black dolls and white children should only have white dolls. ... But I like the idea of children really being able to have somebody who looks like them ... so that they know that they're part of the world."
