I am a former English translator and notary assistant.
My career path began with a translator, as I know English very well. This job was financially satisfying, but deep down I realized that it was not for me. I continued to do this for 8 years in a row, until a full-scale war began in 2022…
After a date that we will all never forget, my life, like most Ukrainians’, was split into BEFORE and AFTER.
And it was this AFTER (and this is moving to other cities, constant anxiety for loved ones and myself) that made me think, is there a tomorrow, is it worth waiting for it? But how much longer should I put everything off for later?
This is where my transformation process began. Just a few questions: What do you really want? What would you really want to do if you knew there might not be a tomorrow?
The first thing I did was learn how to sew (I already knew a little bit). But I had to delve deeper and learn all the subtleties, all the details, in order to prevent a lack of quality in my products in the future (looking ahead, I will say that I personally control every detail!)
Next, I had to understand what brands breathe, how they work, what you need to know when creating your own
The girls from .me, .business helped me a lot with this, special thanks to .zalevskaya, who help me understand the principles of working with my brand.
Of course, the training didn’t end there (now I’m at the London School of Trends)
And now, I am the owner of the Tory Getman brand
I was asked why I chose such a difficult path? Why don’t you sew cheap things, because they are easier to sell?
My answer: I want to take care of people the way I would like to be taken care of.
And it’s not only about caring for people, but also about the world around us 🌎
Yes, it may not be easy, I may have encountered hate and various critical opinions from other people. But it’s definitely worth it so that our children and grandchildren can start living on a cleaner planet.
