RaspberryPlum launches their first childrenswear collection at Pitti Bambino aimed at little girls aged between 3 and 10 years old. Originally from Belgrade, she moved to England aged 12, her mixed identity is an important influence on her work and the provenance of the product. The collection was created with the strong belief that girls should be able to play, get messy, run around and still loo
k chic. Our aim is to combine the comfort and practicality of modern fabrics with the class and elegance of vintage childrenswear. Silhouettes are inspired by the 1930s, 40s and 50s, when children's clothing was still formal, and coloured with a palette taken from 1950s toys and poster adds. The RaspberryPlum collection is predominantly made using high quality knitted fabrics. The softest cotton jerseys were used for tops, double face denim jersey for trousers and skirts and beautiful wool blend jerseys for coats and jackets. These garments are not only very stylish but also easy to look after. A great deal of attention has been placed on detail, quality and finish. No expense was spared on linings or trims, only poppers and zips were used as fastenings for practicality of easy wear. A range of fun tights and socks have been designed to compliment the collection. Some designs feature the same elements as on the original jacquard fabrics. The collection is manufactured in Serbia as it is our aim to help re-establish and promote a once thriving apparel industry, which has suffered greatly as a result of political turmoil in the region over the past 20 years.
