From the looms of Banaras to the runways of Paris. A centuries-old textile language, reimagined through the radical silhouettes of couture.

Woven through generations, reinterpreted for a new stage. Banarasi craft finds new expression in the interplay of Katan silk, kadhuā, meenakari and booti. 🧵❤️

Building a fashion brand taught me that working with craft is much more than creating a beautiful product. 🖼

It is about understanding the people behind the process, respecting the time and skill involved, and building a business model that works for everyone in the chain. 👥️

These are some of the lessons I carry into my work today, helping fashion and lifestyle founders build stronger, more thoughtful businesses around craft. 🧵

Adding to our previous list of tools , here are four more tools that quietly exist within India’s craft traditions, each designed for a very specific purpose. 🧰
Some are ingenious. Some are almost absurdly simple. And some are so obscure that even finding what they’re called is a challenge. 👀🌸

We talk a lot about Indian crafts, but rarely about the little tools that make them possible. 🧵

Follow us to learn more about crafts and what/who makes them come to life. ❤️

Regardless of the method, Blue is one of the most common colors among the crafts in Gujarat. 💙

It is one of those common links that makes different crafts look like they are all part of one single beautiful craft. 🧵

The color Blue is definitely a main character 🫶

Some crafts are so rare that you don't stumble upon them, you have to seek them out. 👀

Looking back, I feel incredibly lucky that my work has taken me to the people keeping these traditions alive.🩷
Every journey has been a chance to witness knowledge passed from one generation to the next, and to see just how much patience, skill, and history can exist in a single piece of craft.

Let us know in the comments how many you have witnessed. 🫶

Or which ones would you like to explore?

Long before playing cards became something you could slip into your pocket, they were carefully painted by hand. 🖌

Ganjifa cards once found their way through royal courts, storytelling traditions, and family gatherings, with every deck carrying its own artistic style.

Each card is a tiny canvas, reminding us that even something as ordinary as a game could become a masterpiece in the hands of an artisan.🌸

Imagine painting with a thick paste made from boiled castor oil using nothing but a metal stylus that never actually touches the fabric.✍️🎨

That's Rogan art. Every motif is drawn freehand before being folded onto itself to create a perfect mirror image. Once practised by many artisan families in Kutch, the tradition now survives through only a handful of practitioners, making every finished piece feel even more extraordinary.❤️

Kaavi doesn't begin with a brush. It begins with layers of lime plaster, where the design slowly emerges by carving away the surface to reveal the rich red earth beneath. 🔨🌸

Once a familiar sight along the Konkan coast, the tradition is now rarely practised, with only a small number of artisans continuing the craft. The walls still hold these stories, but the hands that know how to make them are becoming increasingly rare.❤️🫶

Among the rarest weaving traditions still practised in India, Sujani survives today thanks to the dedication of a few artisan families in Bharuch, Gujarat. 🪡

At its heart is master artisan Rafiq Bhai, whose lifelong commitment has become inseparable from the craft's story. Woven on narrow looms using a painstaking extra-weft technique, every piece carries c

Have a craft, fashion or lifestyle brand in mind, but not sure where to start? 🤷‍♀️

Or maybe you’ve already started and found yourself figuring out products, production, vendors, costs and a hundred other decisions on your own?

That’s exactly why we’re creating the Cohort.
For 0–1 year fashion and lifestyle founders, we’re bringing together just 10 founders to build, learn and grow alongside each other. 🫶

This is more than just guidance.
It’s a space to: → Get group consultations and practical support
→ Learn from other founders on a similar journey
→ Make better product, brand and production decisions
→ Navigate vendors, production and costs in India
→ Turn your ideas into something you can actually build 💫
And most importantly, we want to shape the Cohort around what early-stage founders are actually dealing with, rather than giving you a one-size-fits-all playbook.

You bring the vision. We help you figure out how to build it.❤️
