Toyoda G3: la machine qui a marqué l’histoire du denim

Mis au point dans les années 1920 par Sakichi Toyoda, le métier à tisser G3 est à l'origine de certains des plus beaux denims japonais.
Son tissage lent et à faible tension crée des toiles selvedge au caractère unique, avec une texture riche et une évolution remarquable au fil du temps.
Aujourd'hui, seules quelques manufactures japonaises perpétuent encore ce savoir-faire centenaire.

Developed in the 1920s by Sakichi Toyoda, the G3 shuttle loom is behind some of Japan's finest denim fabrics.
Its slow, low-tension weaving process creates selvedge denim with unique texture, character, and beautiful fades over time.
Today, only a handful of Japanese mills still preserve this century-old craftsmanship.

Sugar Cane - 14.25oz Denim Jacket Type II 1953 Aged Model Indigo

An icon of Japanese workwear, the Sugar Cane 1953 “Aged Model” revisits one of the most emblematic designs in denim history: the famous 1950s “2nd type” jacket.
Designed in Japan using both American and Japanese vintage archives, it faithfully reproduces the boxy, cropped silhouette typical of the era, with its flap chest pockets, action pleats, and adjustable side tabs at the waist.

Its 14.25oz selvedge denim, woven on Toyoda shuttle looms, has been engineered to evolve over time: in this “Aged Model” version, it already features a subtle, natural patina from the very first wear, offering a lived-in look without waiting years of fading.

Blending military heritage, denim culture, and Japanese craftsmanship, this piece perfectly embodies the Sugar Cane spirit: a highly documented reproduction, designed to last and age beautifully over time.
