Le versement de l’acompte avant le 30 septembre vous permet de réserver votre place dans notre carnet de commandes et de bénéficier du tarif actuel, même si la prise de mesures et le choix définitif du tartan interviennent un peu plus t**d.

N’hésitez pas à nous envoyer un message pour parler de votre projet, du choix du tartan ou des différentes étapes de la commande.

Paying the deposit by 30 September will reserve your place in our order book and secure the current price, even if your measurements and final choice of tartan are arranged a little later.

One of the great pleasures of traditional kiltmaking is helping someone create a garment that connects them to their heritage.

Recently, Gary had the privilege of making a made-to-measure kilt in the beautiful Sinclair Hunting Ancient tartan (16oz, 8 yards).

We're especially touched by these words from our client:

"Ce kilt est une œuvre d'art et le fruit du savoir-faire de Gary."

("This kilt is a work of art and the fruit of Gary's craftsmanship.")

He also spoke of the care, professionalism and love of tradition that went into the process, and of the many compliments he has received while wearing his kilt.

Thank you, Christophe, for placing your trust in us and for allowing us to share these photographs. It was an absolute pleasure creating this kilt for you.

This week's word is:

🌧️ DREICH /dreech/
(-ch as in "loch", not "dreetch"!)

Meaning: dull, grey, cold and damp weather... the sort of day that makes you want to stay indoors with a wee dram! 🥃

Here in France, we're melting in the heat – temperatures over 40°C! ☀️ So dreich weather might be something we're dreaming of right now! 😅

🇫🇷 En français : un temps gris, humide et un peu triste ; un temps maussade.
Quand il fait plus de 40°C, on avoue qu'un peu de dreich ferait presque du bien ! 😉

👋 Welcome to Carduus Kilts!

Carduus Kilts was born from a love of Scotland, its traditions and the timeless craftsmanship of Highland dress.

I'm Gary, a Scottish kiltmaker based in France. Every kilt is individually made to measure and handsewn using traditional kiltmaking techniques, whether it's for a wedding, a special celebration, or simply because you want to reconnect with your Scottish roots.

Over the coming weeks, I'll be sharing the stories behind tartans, giving you a glimpse behind the scenes in the workshop, and introducing some of the beautiful fabrics and accessories that make Highland dress so special.

We're on our way home after a fabulous, though rather soggy, weekend in Bressuire at the French Highland Games 🇫🇷. There was a great turnout despite the rain, plenty of great entertainment in the form of the games, some excellent dancing displays and top-notch pipe bands. Gary was able to see his Carduus Kilts that he made for the Bressuire team, the Bockers, and our stand got plenty of visitors. The atmosphere was brilliant, the event was very well organised, and we've made lots of new friends. Roll on next year's games in Thiron-Gardais!

Whae's like us? Damn few, and they're a' French! It's pishing it doon here at the French Highlandgames À Bressuire , and masses of people have donned their ponchos and put up their umbrellas to watch the dancers from the Gordon School of Dancing. So much love here for all things Scottish!
