Home Comforts The new name for convenient, affordable, and great quality nearly-new furniture in Aberdeen!

Home Comfort stores are different, we rehome quality, preowned furniture and household items, allowing people to enhance their homes affordably while at the same time saving our beautiful planet. The items we sell come from donations from the very generous North East community, meaning that annually we divert hundreds of tonnes from landfill, 175.5 tonnes in 2018! We’re continually surprised at th

e delight of customers visiting our stores – some, who know we’re a “charity shop” have a preconceived idea that items will be past their best; and those who initially think we’re a “normal store” are astonished at the prices prior to discovering items are nearly new – we love seeing these reactions. In store you’ll meet our friendly and helpful staff, who are often supported by volunteers gaining retail-based work experience. We have 3 Home Comfort stores across Aberdeen, Union Square which is the biggest and mainly stocks furniture and household items to make a house a home, our Great Western Road store purveys mainly white goods and smaller electricals, and our Culter store stocks clothing and household décor items. All our items go through careful quality control testing and have safety labels intact where relevant; our stores are all certified by Revolve which is the Zero Waste Scotland quality accreditation for trading standards in reuse goods, we don’t sell anything that doesn’t meet the standards meaning that many of our items literally are as good as new! Come and see us whether you’re looking to upcycle, donate items, save the planet, furnish a property or if you simply fancy a bargain. Our stores can only operate thanks to the kindness of those who give us donations. We’d love to hear from you if you’d like to support us by donating good quality items – our vans are out on the road all the time and we’re happy to arrange a free collection. Our charity is Instant Neighbour which supports some of the most disadvantaged people in Aberdeen City and Shire – providing real help today and hope for tomorrow – enabling people to get back on their feet and turn their lives around. Many are unaware that poverty is on the increase in the North East, and that there are people struggling to put food on their tables or worse maintain a roof over their heads. There’s a stigma around poverty and a perception that people are solely to blame for the situations they’re in, that’s very often not the case. Profits from Home Comforts go into funding Instant Neighbour’s activities to alleviate poverty. A sneaky peak to let you see what goes on behind the scenes before our furniture hits the shops for you to buy.

Our online administrator, Fay, hand picks, cleans and photographs all the furniture for our online shop https://homecomforts.instantneighbour.co.uk/

We are Revolve certified which means that the best quality furniture is chosen and must meet high standards of condition and cleanliness.
Every piece of furniture from a futon to a dining table and chairs is cleaned and inspected prior to photographing.

We want you to receive the best second hand furniture as possible.

We are always on the look out for second hand furniture for our shops, if you have any you would like to donate, please give us a call on 01224 489955 and we can arrange a driver to come and collect.
(And if you could give it a dicht first, this would help a lot; Fay would be very happy :) )

We've hung up the tinsel and decked the halls of the Instant Neighbour Home Comforts shop to bring you some fabulous Christmas furniture.

Our range includes sofa-beds, guest-beds and dining tables and chairs; everything you would need for entertaining guests over the festive period.

Instant Neighbour has been supporting people on low incomes in Aberdeen for over 35 years now.

We supply food parcels, create work experience and volunteering opportunities, store furniture for people in temporary accommodation and ensure that no child goes without a Christmas present, all whilst doing our bit to save the enviroment.

We can only continue to do the fabulous things we do with the support of kind and generous individuals like yourself who donate food (for our food bank) and furniture (to resell in our shops).
