What an amazing day I had teaching beading knitting and beaded Dorset Buttons. ❤️🧶

Fantastic participants all keen to learn & very engaging. Thank you to all of you for making the workshops such fun.

As usual I got lost in the teaching & chat & totally forgot to take photos other than one at the end of the beaded knitting & a couple at set up pre workshop.

Many thanks to Julie at for hosting us in her beautiful yarn shop.

And to Samira thank you for the opportunity to teach at the wonderful show you have curated featuring a gathering of wide ranging & talented Scottish fibre independent businesses.

Not long to go until 🧶 and I’m very excited to be delivering 2 workshops, a beaded Dorset Button brooch workshop & a beaded knitting workshop.

I love how beads can add that extra colour, texture, sparkle & pattern to your hand made crafts.

This is a fantastic festival in the Borders with the theme this year of Bernat Klein inspired textures and colours. I hope to see some of you there. Let me know if you’re coming along.

I’m delighted to be heading down to Galashields at the end of May to teach at Tangled Galashiels

In the afternoon I will be teaching how to make this statement beaded Dorset Button brooch using two different methods to add beads.

This is a wonderful event featuring a wide range of fibre crafts from independent craft businesses from across Scotland.

There is much to see, watch, get involved in & of course lots of opportunity to make one or two purchases!

With a fibre market, fleece market,, demos, displays of creative fibre based work, exhibitions & a criticism space to relax & experience drop in craft sessions, it’s a great event to immerse yourself in all things fibre.

I love sharing my knowledge of from the county in which I grew up in, and I can’t wait to see some of the work from the group. Such great enthusiasm for this heritage craft.

What an incredible start to the day.

Strength training at 0615 followed by a walk on a gorgeous still, sunny day.

Soaking up the clear skies & sunshine while looking out for lambs. We heard the cuckoo for the first time this spring with the bird app informing us other bird song included dunnock, sparrow, warbler, meadow pipit & common chaffinch.

And to top off the start to the day we saw our first swallow of the year perched quietly on the overhead cables.

Feeling energised & very fortunate.

Ute of runs the most incredible small group creative experiences across Scotland including painting, drawing & textile tours.

I was very fortunate to spend time with Ute’s Skye Textile experience group in Portree on a blustery wet Sunday.

Wrapped up in a beautiful warm & cozy Skye Georgian house I shared my love and knowledge of Dorset Buttons from the county I was brought up in. Everyone picked up the technique really well and made some beautiful buttons, brooches and even a ring!

I recently discovered Annie and The Hooks in Inverness & was delighted to have the opportunity on Saturday to visit her studio for Carmen Jorissen New Leaf Designs book launch.

So engrossed in the talk by Carmen and seeing all the beautiful book samples and colourful swatches I totally forgot to take any photos. 😳

Although with my TJFrog staff acting as chauffeur I did manage some video footage of the snow on our journey back to Skye. ❄️

Carmen has designed five different striking colourwork motifs with each one appearing as a hat, cowl, mitten & sock pattern. Instructions are very clear with QR codes for extra video tutorials. A great idea to be able to mix and match your accessories from head to toe!

Now to decide what to knit first! 🤔
