In 2011 Mandy and her husband Bill had the opportunity to live in a stunning National Trust property with a generous garden in Near Sawrey. Castle Cottage was Beatrix Potter's home for 30 years from 1913 when she married William Heelis. When choosing furnishings for the house it felt right to use the products of the fells, including Herdwick carpet and tweed fabrics, to reflect the link with Beatrix's farming life and her passion for the Herdwick breed. The idea behind Herdwick developed...... the concept that you can carry with you the essence of the English Lake District everyday and in doing so help to preserve this unique breed. The ethos behind Herdwick products being that, as far as possible, everything is from Cumbria. The bags are manufactured in Carlisle, Cumbria' county town and Mandy's aim is to keep it 'Created in Cumbria'.
