🌒 LOOK UP… BUT DON’T LOOK DIRECTLY! 👀
Tomorrow, 12 August 2026, a spectacular solar eclipse will be visible across the UK. Depending on where you are, a significant portion of the Sun will disappear behind the Moon — creating a sight you won’t want to miss.
But there’s one VERY important thing to remember…
⚠️ Your everyday sunglasses are NOT safe for looking directly at a solar eclipse.
Even very dark sunglasses don't provide the protection needed for direct solar viewing. You should only look directly at the eclipse using proper solar viewing glasses or a viewer designed for eclipse viewing that complies with ISO 12312-2.
🌳 No eclipse glasses?
You can still experience it safely! A simple pinhole projector lets you view the eclipse indirectly — and even the gaps between leaves on trees can project tiny crescent-shaped images of the Sun onto the ground.
