It’s past time I made an announcement that things are changing!

In 1 weeks time, the shop will be closing. For the first time in 11 years I won’t have a shop front!

Am I stopping what I do? No.

Are things changing? Yes. The plan is to stop working 16 hour days during the bridal season and feeling guilty when my little boy says ‘ I miss you mummy’ because I’ve already gone to work before he’s awake in the morning just to try and get everything I need to done.

I’ll be working from my home studio, no fittings will be held there though. I’m cutting back on workload, I’ll still be a bridal alterations specialist but I’ll also potentially be getting a little more creative and going back to making some more fun things too ( watch this space)

Most excitingly though, I’ve been working with Lyn Ashworth bridal atelier for the past 6+ months to make their bespoke couture wedding dresses and launching Altar Maes, a new couture bridal alterations service based at the atelier on the Duchy of Lancaster estate in Needwood.

It’s a whole new chapter, slightly scary but I’m really hoping it means more family time, furthering my skills working with such a renowned bridal atelier and a good work/ life balance!

Today was a full circle kind of day..

I started going to an evening sewing class when I was 14 ( a couple of decades ago plus a bit more 😂) and was taught by an incredible lady called Mary.

I can easily say if it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t be doing this. And today I had a final alterations fitting with her granddaughter getting her aisle ready for her big day!

It’s been around 18 years since I last saw Mary so when she came to the fitting today you can imagine it was quite emotional!

It really was a full circle moment.
