I line each hat with a sumptuous satin cloth, label and box, ready to go off to its new home....hopefully all good homes! I noticed Ratty Tat

A little romance for a Sunday afternoon? This is a recent custom hat, The Daisies of Shalott inspired by a much loved painting, The Lady of Shalott by John William Waterhouse. Waterhouse alligned himself with a group of Victorian artists and poets known as the Pre-Raphaelites. The hat's owner, Margaret has a Master's degree in Victorian Literature and is herself an accomplished mixed media artist, interestingly creating pieces using natural materials gathered from her local landscape. A cheeky plug, if I may, for Margaret at Nettle Grey. I am in awe of her recent experiments featuring her own painstakingly created, nettle twine! Enjoy your Ratty Tat Hat, The Daisies of Shalott, Margaret. I hope I got just the right mix of rustic and romance x

Wowwee....allowed to run with scissors yet again!! Oh how I love the "GO FOR IT" brief. The inspiration for this hat, The Vaudeville, was clearly theatrics and performance. The Vaudeville's owner is the very stunning, Ali, of The Water Gypsies (pictured here, on stage at a recent performance). Go girl and rock your Ratty Tat Hat....she tells me she loves it x

Whilst I have been away I was told that a recent Ratty Tat Hats' creation, Neptune was featured on last Sunday's RTE 1's airing of No Place Like Home. The lovely Irish journalist and long serving RTE anchorwoman, Anne Doyle tells of her travel to Donegal and trip with Paddy Byrne, Sliabh Liag Boat Tours, Neptune's proud owner. Neptune features in the TV programme and I was very humbled by Anne's generously kind compliments on the hat itself in an accompanying RTE Radio interview with Kathryn Thomas. I had to share as I know many of you enjoy seeing the various hats' adventures x

In an effort to encourage a smile....I will even settle for a head shake and a chuckle....I want to introduce Ratty Tat Hats' Scissor Hands! Well I do have to live up to the title of Mad Hatter though Edwina Scissorhands might be more appropriate. I have been training this old conifer into a topiary top hat for a couple of years and decided there was no better day than today to dress it up. I couldn't quite decide on the floral bit, so there are two variations. Don't worry, I have have consoled myself that my arrangement wouldn't be good enough for my beloved RHS Chelsea. I know there will be many of us that will sorely miss its usual wonderful TV coverage this month x

What about this for a pretty cloche hat with beautiful beaded vintage sari trim? The Cynthia Westcott by Ratty Tat Hats is named after a lady often described as The Plant Doctor. Cynthia was an expert on roses so this hat surely seems fitting x

Good afternoon Ratty Tatters! This lovely lady from Kent appeared on Channel 4's Escape to the Chateau DIY, yesterday. Karina is a celebrant and officiated at a wedding in the Chateau de Dohem. Her custom Ratty Tat Hat is called The Celebrant and the exquisite Steampunk costume was created by The Robing Room also based in Kent. I would like to thank Karina for giving her permission to share these photos and also a huge thanks to Samantha Jones Photography....together you have made my day and I definitely need to catch up with this episode on All 4 x

Do you remember The Water Gypsy from a couple of weeks ago? Well here it is worn by its rightful owner. Stu of The Water Gypsies band plays regularly at the McCormacks Bar, Naas and I know the band will looking forward to getting back there to entertain the folk. I am hoping the new hat will be a terrific hit too x

Ok so something that will hopefully raise the spirits of purple fans and maybe a few others too, let me introduce, The Bronze Peacock. Named after one of my favourite Irises though there isn't a peacock feather in sight but rather curled pheasant and lovely soft, wispy emu feathers. I have also included a bronze beaded, vintage, ceremonial sari trim into the design of this bowler hat as I know these are very popular addition. What a fruity little cocktail x
