No one talks about this enough.
Going back to work while breastfeeding.
We talk so much about maternity leave, getting back into a routine and finding your feet again at work…
But what happens when you’re still breastfeeding?
Suddenly, your working day can involve breast pumps, expressing, storing milk, finding somewhere private to feed or pump, working around feeding schedules — all while trying to get back into meetings, deadlines and the general chaos of being back at work.
And for some mums, work can be one of the reasons breastfeeding ends sooner than they actually wanted.
It shouldn’t have to be an either/or.
Returning to work while breastfeeding can absolutely be challenging, but with the right support, planning and understanding from employers, it can be made so much easier.
Our latest blog looks at the realities of that work/feed juggle, including:
🍼 Preparing for the transition before you return
🍼 Expressing and finding the right pump
🍼 Knowing your workplace rights
🍼 Looking after yourself when you’re already running on empty
🍼 And remembering that you don’t have to put pressure on yourself to do everything perfectly
Because breastfeeding is already a full-time job.
Doing it alongside your actual job deserves a lot more conversation, understanding and support.
