Artisan designer and maker of fine, hand stitched, vegetable tanned leather bags. I make a wide range of styles as well as commissioned pieces.

KLG Deehide was originally launched by me, Kathy Greaves, as a small business in 2012. Since then, I have designed and made my bags entirely by hand using traditional methods of craftmanship. It has been a joy to transform whole shoulders of vegetable tanned leather into bags that are country classic in style with traditional leather craft detailing, injected with a contemporary twist, in the use

of bold colour combinations, stitching and trim. Conservation and reconstruction of old pieces also forms a small part of my work.

Because I have decided to scale down the amount of work I undertake, I now prefer to craft small quantities of leather items as a hobbyist. My website still displays images of the range of bags I make and I will continue to post images of my latest works on Facebook

The latest commission: a good sized saddle bag made from the robust flaps of a large black saddle. The point pocket was refashioned from its original shape to form the closure with the cut-down billet

This was a dark brown racing saddle, now converted into a saddle-style handbag with detachable strap. The two flaps made the body, the teeny rudimentary skirts guide the billet closure, handle is a stitched brow band and half reins as strap

This is a slightly smaller version of the (previously posted) green saddlebag, this time in navy blue, but again with a skirt flap, billet closure and half reins strap.
