THINGS I HAVE LEARNT FROM MY STYLING CLIENTS...
Since graduating as a personal stylist with the London College of Style back in 2020, I have worked with the most incredible women on their personal style.
Whether it's been helping them to discover their best colours or working with them on their wardrobes, I can hand on heart say that it's been an absolute pleasure to meet such brilliant, funny, clever, kind, wise and beautiful women.
I don't know why - I'm lucky I guess! - but I always seem to have attracted the best women to work with and for that, I'm incredibly grateful.
Hopefully over the years, I've taught my clients a thing or too. But one thing, I've never really mentioned until now is how much my clients - indeed many of you perhaps even reading this - have also taught me.
So here goes...
Working with hundreds of women on their personal style has taught me that:
Style isn't really about the clothes. It's about confidence, identity, self-expression, self-love, how we see ourselves and also, how we want to be seen.
I've learned that many of us are own harshest critics, when we should really be our own best friends.
I've learned that many of us cannot see our own beauty and that we carry around stories that others have created about us, instead of creating our very own.
I've learned that when a woman really wants to change, absolutely nothing can stop her. Such is the force of the feminine.
I've learned that when women help each other and truly connect, truly anything is possible.
I've learned that sometimes it's not the clothes that are the problem, it's how someone feels about themselves or has been made to feel.
I've learned that often it's the little things that can have the biggest impact. A beautiful colour that enhances a woman's eyes. A simple French truck. An unexpected pairing.
I've learned that every single woman wants to be appreciated and loved for who they are. To be truly seen and valued.
I've learned that there is no cookie cutter formula to looking good. (And thank heavens for that!)
That we are all different and that figuring out our own unique authentic style is where the magic really happens.
Whether you're cool or classic, eccentric or feminine, loud or quiet, bold or shy, personal style belongs to EVERYONE, regardless of age, size, job role or budget. And that the really fun part is that you get to make it your own. (Always.)
Six years of styling, hundreds of clients and I'm still learning!
So to all of you whom I've had the pleasure of working with and getting to know - if you've ever trusted me with your wardrobe, getting your colours done or simply helping you to make the most of what god has given you, I just wanted to take a moment to also say THANK YOU so much.
Working with women on their style has and will continue to be always a privilege, teaching me more than you'll ever really know.
