The story of our unfinished peacock frieze which runs around the store’s ground floor is quite special.

Legend has it that the artist passed away during the commission. After a period of searching for another artist to take on the commission it was decided to leave the frieze unfinished as a tribute to the original artist.

The work is undated but the Art Nouveau style suggests it was painted in the early 1900s.
