Sewing Term of the Day: INTERFACING ✨

Ever wonder how your projects keep their shape? Meet interfacing - a non-woven fabric that adds structure and stability to your main fabric. It comes in two types: fusible (iron-on) and sew-in, and ranges from light to heavyweight depending on the support you need.

You can buy it off the roll in fabric stores or in small packs at many craft shops.

I used this interfacing in my Belt Bag project, and it made all the difference! 🧵💛

If you've ever read a sewing pattern and seen the term "cut on the bias," you might have wondered what that actually means.

Most fabric has threads that run straight up and down (the grain). Normally, pattern pieces are cut along those lines. But cutting on the bias means placing your pattern piece diagonally across the fabric at about a 45° angle.

Why does this matter>? Because fabric behaves differently on the bias. It gives more of a stretch to the fabric and drapes more softly, which is perfect for flowing skirts and bias binding.

The word comes from the French 'biais', meaning slanted, which perfectly describes the angle you are cutting.
