New Arrivals…This One’s For Jeff!

23/10/2026

What an unbelievable day today! Such an outpouring of kindness and support from so many people and friends of the shop, and I am incredibly grateful to everyone who has reached out this week.

Thank you to everyone who has suggested different ways of moving forward with the shop in order to get us through these difficult times. Honestly, my heartfelt thanks goes out to everyone.

And Jeff, came in and did exactly the opposite to what everyone else did today by dropping some records on the counter and saying that the “New Arrivals Reel” should still go ahead! So, that just meant the world to me that people want to support the shop in so many different ways! You all know we haven’t had much coming in lately, so to get some albums to post tonight was just an amazing gesture! My sincerest thanks Buddy 🙏

So here we are, back tonight with at least something to show you and thankfully I’ve been to pick up a collection tonight, so looking forward to sharing some great indie, new wave & alt records with you next week.

Take care, see you tomorrow if you are popping over and thank you to everyone. Have a great weekend ☀️

Wonderful to have Steve pop in today to get a valuation on his White Stripes “Elephant” album promo. Certainly a great rarity that I’ve never seen before! And valued at about £80 on Discogs.

He had a great story about having originally picked up the album, in a bargain bin bundle, at ‘Sound It Out Records’ shop in the mid 2000’s. However, having just recently rediscovered it after many years on a shelf, he decided to take it to a friends ‘meet up’ party, whereby he was offered £100 for it from someone that was there too!

He turned the offer down and decided to hold onto it. It was a great story…but what would you have done? Sold it or Kept it?

Thank you to everyone who has reached out today, I’ve heard some lovely comments about the shop, which makes me so grateful and I really do hope everyone’s life gets better soon so that we can all benefit from doing a bit more of the little things we love doing! Life just seems like a bit of an uphill struggle for everyone at the moment!

I haven’t got any “new arrivals” for you again this week, which I normally showcase for you tonight on a reel! The reason being that we’ve had pretty much next to nothing coming in the last few weeks! But look, there are so many other great record shops out there, all around our area including those in Wingate, Saltburn, Sedgefield, Redcar, Hartlepool, Darlington, Stockton and Northallerton who would all love to see you too. So between us, you are always gonna get a “great day out”, checking out what’s new on their shelves wherever you choose to go this weekend. But just a massive thank you to everyone who reached out to me today and hope everyone has a really great weekend wherever you go looking for that little bit of “Vinyl Escapism”! Take care everyone,
Nick 🎶

Thank you to the Support Workers and Adults who popped into the ROXY over lunch time to pick up a Gift Voucher to put in their Christmas Raffle to raise funds for their charity Garden Centre & Community Hub on Bishopton Road, Stockton.

In the picture below you can see Julie, Stephen & Joel holding onto some of their favourite artist albums, including Elvis & Taylor Swift. Thank you guys and we wish you every success with your fundraising over Christmas. 🎄

A big big thank you to everyone who came in today to support us during these challenging times for all shops. I’m not really sure where we are heading going forward, but it’s so tough for everyone at the moment and I’m incredibly grateful to those that keep rallying behind us.

There was a big announcement last week that the wool shop upstairs is closing in December due to falling revenue and dropping footfall, and sadly I really think we might be getting sucked into a similar situation in the not too distant future too! I really cannot bear to think of not having the ROXY, but revenue is well down and we are struggling to stay afloat in the current economic climate. I know this sounds mad to say on the eve of our 5th Anniversary, but I’m proud as hell to have made it this far from such humble beginnings in our upstairs room, and I just hope that I can keep it going (maybe with a few changes to opening days) for as long as possible.

I desperately need your support to keep the ROXY going, so if you are popping over during any of the next few days, I really cannot thank you enough.
