I probably should have said this sooner… but here we are 😅

Carrying Connects isn’t going anywhere — I still very much love a sling, a wrap, and getting you comfy and confident 👶

BUT…

I’ve also been quietly building something alongside it - Wirral Car Seats

Because (and this won’t shock you)…

a LOT of parents are being sold car seats without anyone actually asking the right questions 🤯
a LOT of parents are being given incorrect, outdated and even illegal advice

And you know I can’t keep my mouth shut about that.

So no — I’m not ditching slings.
I’m just expanding what I can help you with.

Which of these have you experienced while babywearing your toddler?

It can certainly be quite different from carrying a younger baby!

Over in Baby Carrying Community UK, we have thousands of families who carry their babies at all different ages and stages from preemie to pre-schooler - why not come over and chill in a safe and welcoming space?

8 years ago today, I spent my first session as a volunteer at my local sling library. Matthew was 3 months old, and really struggling with reflux and poor weight gain. I was recovering from a rocky pregnancy, and my confidence was pretty low

That day started a journey through peer supporting, completing my Babywearing Consultant training, setting up Carrying Connects, and helping over 1000 families on their own Babywearing journey.

Here is to the next 8 years - possibly!

😤 **BABYWEARING RANT (please read)**

Why. WHY. are slings, wraps and carriers being sold by random internet shops that wouldn’t know a good carry from a pair of lederhosen?
(Yes B&Q, I saw that screenshot 👀)

Online marketplaces are just that - large online platforms that let you buy anything from anybody.

Babywearing is NOT just a product you click “add to basket” on.

👶 It’s about **fit**
👶 It’s about **safety**
👶 It’s about **comfort for you AND your baby**

When you buy from a specialist babywearing retailer, you’re not just buying fabric with straps.

You’re buying:
✔️ Proper advice
✔️ Age-appropriate recommendations
✔️ Help when it feels wrong
✔️ Reassurance when you think *“is this supposed to feel like this?”*

Random online shops sell you a thing and disappear.
Specialists stick around.

And honestly? A badly chosen carrier doesn’t just waste money — it knocks confidence, causes discomfort, and ends up shoved in a cupboard “because babywearing didn’t work for us” (spoiler: it probably *would have* with the right support).

✨ Babywearing deserves better than guesswork.
✨ Parents deserve better than trial and error.

Please, please, PLEASE buy your sling, wrap or carrier from someone who actually understands babywearing.

Hello & welcome to Carrying Connects

If you’re new here (or you’ve been quietly watching from the sidelines 👀), I’m Ruth – mum of two, babywearing consultant, sling librarian, and the face behind Carrying Connects

My babywearing journey started the same way many do: tired, overwhelmed, holding a baby who just wanted to be held 👶. What I didn’t realise at the time was that babywearing wouldn’t just help my babies settle – it would give me confidence, freedom, and a way to actually enjoy those early days.

Fast-forward several years, a LOT of training, and hundreds of families later… and Carrying Connects exists to do one simple but powerful thing:

Help parents carry their babies safely, comfortably, and with confidence.

At Carrying Connects, you will find
