Karen's crochet creations

Karen's crochet creations My crochet work. Mostly for my personal use although I will be making some items to sell later. A bit about my crochet journey. It must be in the blood!

I learned to crochet at age 11 having previously been tought to knit by a relative and making a few dolls clothes, always loved anything like that as a child. A friend at school tought me to crochet one Friday afternoon when we were allowed to bring toys / games into class she bought her crochet and within an hour or so I had mastered the basics and started a continuous granny blanket. The blanke

t came out and was worked on on and off throughout my teenage years and didnt get finished until I was about 20! It was later used to wrap my poor dog in to take him to the vet after he was hit by a car. Due to a lack of nice crochet patterns I switched to knitting and made some baby clothes and a few things for myself. I bought a knitting machine and made a lot of children's clothes. Then the internet arrived, full of gorgeous crochet patterns which I discovered about 8 years ago and that was it, I was hooked! I later learned that my grandmother did beautiful crochet work in her younger years making beautiful doilies, she had rheumatoid arthritis in her 40s and her hands were too painful to crochet after that. I love my crochet, as well as making some lovely things it is very absorbing and relaxing and a great escape from the stresses and strains life throws at you. Happy crocheting!

It is cushions year! I decided not to do a blanket this year so am doing cushions instead. Cushion number 1 is based on Jane Crowfoot's fruit garden with an added bee :) to match the blanket I did a couple of years ago. (needs blocking to smooth it out a bit)
