I think this might be one of my favourite summer tops I've made this year... 💙

I sewed the Tilly and the Buttons Leah Top in our beautiful Blueberry Bunches Double Gauze, and I've been reaching for it so much.

Double gauze is such a lovely fabric to wear in warmer weather, but because every double gauze behaves a little differently, I made a few small changes to the pattern to help me get the finish I wanted.

In my latest blog, I'm sharing the five adaptations I made, from using a lighter weight binding to adding a chain loop and choosing seam finishes that work beautifully with this fabric.

Even if you're sewing the Leah in a different fabric, or using double gauze for another pattern, I hope some of the tips will come in handy for your next project.

When it comes to summer sewing, I always find myself coming back to sleeveless tops. ☀️

They're some of the most worn pieces in my handmade wardrobe. Easy to throw on with jeans, shorts or linen trousers, lovely to sew, and brilliant for making the most of beautiful fabrics.

I've put together a blog sharing 10 of my favourite sleeveless sewing patterns, from well loved classics to a few that you might not have discovered yet. I've also included the fabrics I'd choose for each one, along with a few little sewing tips and pattern hacks that I've picked up after making them myself.

🌤️ After last week's heatwave, the slightest dip in temperature has me reaching for an extra layer!

That's exactly why I love having a few handmade layering pieces in my wardrobe. They're the garments that work hard all year round, whether you're throwing one on over a T-shirt on a cooler summer morning or layering it over shirts and lightweight knits as the seasons begin to change.

The Ruby Vest is one of those pieces. Several of us here at G&G have made more than one because it's so easy to style and works with almost everything. Once you've made one, it quickly becomes a wardrobe favourite.

This Ruby Project pairs a beautiful Pink Vintage Cotton with a coordinating Lilac Micro Check Seersucker. The tiny pink and blue checks create a soft lilac effect from a distance, while the subtle seersucker texture adds just the right amount of interest to this timeless layering piece.
