A bit of a creative weekend at Safe. Precise. Trusted. .ritual.tattoo Tattoo Studio with Sam.

I added another one of my wife’s original designs to my arm, and while we were chatting it got us thinking…

What if her artwork wasn’t just for the wall?

She’s always creating original drawings, but rather than seeing them become another print or another piece of paper tucked away in a portfolio, we’re wondering if they might have a second life as tattoo designs.

Would you buy original tattoo flash inspired by her artwork?

We’re not talking about AI or stock designs—just hand-drawn, original pieces that people could take to their own tattoo artist and make their own.

We’re genuinely interested to hear what you think. Is this something you’d like to see? What styles would catch your eye?

Your comments and honest feedback would really help us decide whether to take the next step.

Our wedding roses are blooming once again. 🌹

Every summer they return, filling the garden with colour, fragrance and memories. It’s hard to believe that this September we’ll celebrate two years of marriage. Time has a wonderful way of slipping by, yet each new season reminds us of where our journey began.

Roses have long symbolised love, devotion and beauty, and every bloom feels like another chapter in our story together. Through sunshine and rain, they return stronger each year—just as love grows deeper with time.

In Norse mythology, flowers and nature were sacred reminders that life moves in cycles. While the mighty Yggdrasil, the World Tree, bound together the Nine Realms, every changing season spoke of renewal, resilience and hope. Even after the longest winter, life always returned.

Our little garden has become our own reminder of that truth. Every summer the roses bloom again, quietly telling us that love, like nature, is nurtured through patience, kindness and shared moments.

Here’s to many more summers, many more roses, and many more seasons together.

Modern tartan design is constantly evolving. While tradition remains at its heart, today’s tartans often draw inspiration from the world around us.

Colour palettes can come from almost anywhere—rolling landscapes, woodland and heather, changing seasons, the sea and sky, architecture, wildlife, artwork, family history, company branding, or even a favourite place or cherished memory. Every colour has the potential to tell part of a story.

Designing a tartan is about much more than choosing attractive colours. It’s about creating balance, rhythm, and meaning within the weave to produce a pattern that is both beautiful and uniquely personal.

Whether you’re creating a tartan for yourself, your family, a business, a community, or a special occasion, inspiration really is everywhere—you just have to look.

🧵 The looms are busy and this week’s one-to-one tartan course is well underway!

There’s nothing better than seeing an idea transform from a simple colour palette into a woven tartan. Every course is completely tailored to the individual, making each experience unique.

✨ I still have one-to-one availability next week, and if you can’t make that, the next course begins in August.

Whether you’re a complete beginner or already have experience, you’ll design your own tartan, weave it on the loom, and take home a finished woven sampler.

A little milestone I’m really proud of… 🧵🏆

I’ve been meaning to share this for a few weeks, but I’m delighted to say my CraftCourses profile has now reached Platinum status!

It’s a real privilege to receive this recognition, especially knowing it reflects the experiences of so many wonderful students who have taken part in my weaving and tartan courses over the years. Every review, every conversation at the loom, and every finished piece has been part of this journey.

The next goal is an exciting one: CPD Certification. I’m now looking into having my courses officially CPD accredited, so participants can gain recognised certification alongside learning traditional tartan design and weaving skills.

There’s still some planning and funding to work through before I can begin the accreditation process, but it’s a direction I’m really excited to pursue.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported my teaching, attended a course, left a review, or encouraged my work. Here’s to the next chapter! 🧶

Work isn’t everything.

Over the last year I’ve made a conscious decision to slow down, simplify my business, and focus on what I enjoy most—teaching weaving and tartan design a couple of days each week.

The rest of the time? I’m investing in myself.

Getting to the gym has become just as important as work. It’s about setting new goals, looking after both mind and body, and remembering that success isn’t measured only by how busy you are.

A huge thank you to Sara at Braw Fitness Blairgowrie | Personal Training Gym for helping me stay focused, motivated, and accountable. Every session is another step towards becoming a healthier and stronger version of myself.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for your business is to take care of the person behind it.

Here’s to finding balance, making time for yourself, and remembering that life is about so much more than work.
