I found this leather jacket on Vinted for ÂŁ10 and decided it was probably time to find out what happens when metallic foil leaves the shoes and moves onto clothing.

I’ve been obsessing over Silver Rox jackets, so this is very much inspired by him — but with my usual “let’s see what happens in the lounge” approach.

Part 1: possibly a good idea. Possibly a very large mistake.

Mum went first in our cowboy boot challenge, and honestly, she has made my job quite tricky!

We’ve each got a pair of tired cowboy boots to foil, and this is her version.

Now I have to see if I can beat her.

Why do we lose this as adults?

We used to choose colours because we liked them.

Not because they were practical.
Not because they went with everything.
Not because someone else approved.

Just because they made us happy.

I think grown-ups need more opportunities to play.

They’re probably curious.

And that’s okay.

Because somewhere along the way I stopped worrying so much about being looked at and started thinking more about what I wanted people to see.

Colour.
Creativity.
Personality.

The things that make me feel most like myself.

Turns out there’s something quite freeing about that.
