Today is Father’s Day and the first one without my dad. On Friday we said goodbye to my wonderful father George Etchells Burgess.

At approaching 90 dad had outlived most of his friends so to see over 100 people in the church was heartwarming and a testament to dad and all the kindness he had shown people in life.

A combination of smith funeral services, Anthony Harrison, Khumi Burton, .association Macclesfield & Bollington and all the ex / service personnel ensured that dad had the send off he deserved.

Reunited with mum.
Till we meet again.

Today marks the 18th anniversary since our lovely mum passed away. It’s the first anniversary without dad.

I’ll take solace in the fact that they are reunited and hopefully having a blast up there.

It’s dad’s funeral next week and it’s strange how they have both passed away on dates close to each other.

We’re currently off line. All sales and purchases are suspended.

My lovely father passed away on the evening of the 20th May 2026.

Dad’s funeral is in a couple of weeks so buying and selling isn’t our focus right now. There have been no posts except for one I forgot was scheduled.

We’ll be back possibly next month.

This week we’ve been listing the enamel ware!

First up is this lovely Vintage White Enamel Bucket with Blue Trim & Wooden Handle Garden.

When I was a little girl my mum used these as nappy buckets!

It’s in great vintage condition. There is chipping to the enamel on the base of the bucket and the blue edging on the rim is missing in parts. Some rust patina.

Great piece for the garden (we have a rosemary bush growing on ours)

We’ve had to temporarily close. Dad is very poorly and has been placed on end of life care.

I won’t be online now for the next couple of weeks and our eBay shop is closed for business until further notice.

I know we have been here four times before but this time feels more real than the previous - though I’m happy to be proved wrong.

Good morning.

Today we have this lovely Keeling & Co Ltd Burslem Losol Ware Sandwich Tray & Plates The Dawnay dating from 1912-36

Consisting of 1 rectangle sandwich tray and 6 tea plates.

"The Dawnay" is a vibrant Art Deco design featuring hand painted spring flowers—predominantly tulips, daffodils, and primroses all set against a white earthenware base. The plates are characterized by its distinctive cobalt blue transfer-printed borders with intricate scrollwork and scalloped, gilded edges.

All you terrier lovers out there will appreciate this lovely little trinket box depicting a terrier digging. A terrier digging - surely not! 🐾🐾😉 although our Beryl only digs in the veg patch so there is a gate to prevent her entry now !

Hello! We’ve had some new followers here so I wanted to do some quick introductions.

Maud and Mabel’s is based in Bollington and made up of myself Debra, my husband Paul and our rescue cats (aka the kids or the raptors-depends what they are up to!) and

We source vintage and antique china from a variety of outlets in Staffordshire and Cheshire and I have to confess we are better at buying than selling ! Whilst it is mostly china teasets and dinnerware it has been known for the odd bit of garden ware and other retro items to make an appearance here too! If you’re having a sort out and have china to sell please do contact us

The profile picture is my paternal great grandfather William Birt who is at a in and I don’t know who the women are but I thought they looked like a Maud and Mabel !

My dad often talks about all the my grandmother had and I often wonder living near the potteries what Staffordshire pottery William and his wife Mary would have owned!

My love for vintage china came from my late mum Irene who collected antiques and china, which were all displayed proudly round the house. Her favourite china was Royal Crown Derby Imari and she collected a few pieces in that pattern.

I carry a wish list and often contact customers if I see anything in their list. Whether a replacement or something that catches your eye out stock is wide and varied.
