Today would have marked Isabella Blow’s 60th birthday. She sadly took her own life over 10 years ago now. She was a legend in the fashion world and lays claim to ‘finding’ Alexander Mcqueen when she bought his clothes for £5000 from his graduate exhibition instantly falling in love with him. She was an extraordinary woman who had a big life about her, not only did she 'find' Alexander Mcqueen but also a number of other massive names, she however took Mcqueen under her wing and the two had a strong, fast friendship. She was known for her love off all things fashion, her statement red lipstick and her booming laugh and would rarely be seen without a Philip Treacy hat ensemble. When she passed away her friend Daphne Guinness bought her entire wardrobe to stop it being auctioned off and has been used in several exhibitions showcasing Isabella Blow as the amazing person she once was. Happy 60th Isabella! •

pushed boundaries throughout his entire life especially when it came to the depiction of women. He enthralled people with his out of this world work and used sexuality as a forefront of his images. He photographed for Vogue throughout his entire life and lived an extraordinary life with his fellow photographer Alice Springs travelling all over the world. The legend lives on…•

Today we celebrate Stella McCartney’s birthday, she is widely known for her activism against using animals in her clothing and has just coincided with Adidas to release a vegan leather, Stan Smith, tennis shoe. She designed her first jacket at age 13 and went on from there to study fashion and open up her own line in 2001 partnered with fashion giant Gucci group (now Kering). In 2018 she bought out her partner and has been solo standing ever since stating, ‘owning my own name changes my mind-set, it’s about legacy. My grandfather’s motto was “staying power” and I’ve always been about the long term.’ As big fashion brands have eventually started following Stella McCartney with her strict ‘no animal use’ she is naturally overjoyed. The biggest breakthrough came at London fashion week this year when, after 35 years of running, it is, for the first time, completely fur free. Happy birthday Stella!!
