Today Tailoresque is the grand old age of 5. And today, due to circumstances beyond my control I have taken the decision to pause with new commissions and projects for a short time. Thankyou to all the lovely customers that have supported my small business so far and I will return to full capacity in a few short weeks.

A note to customers - for a period of time I will be working alone doing the clothing alterations and dressmaking, and as such have taken the decision to limit my intake of commissions for a short time. Once the restricting circumstances change it will be business as usual. But for a couple of months the sewing has to slow down.

Last week in the atelier we had the pleasure of in with us on a work experience week from a student of fashion and textiles. I tasked Tharu with the project of designing from restriction to upcycle one of the donated shirts from our stash. In keeping with our small sustainable, slow fashion, clothing alterations business. She has learnt how to use and master an industrial sewing machine, pattern shaping, moulage, shirting and button & buttonholes. That's a lot in 4 days. Tharu also came in on fittings and actively engaged with some of the customers and pinned up trouser hems for one. It was a pleasure and I'm looking forward to the next.

Yes Tailoresque is in need of expansion. We're looking to hire a clothing alterations specialist. Part time to begin with. A person with knowledge of garment construction and alterations. Someone confident working with a variety of different fabrics. Good customer service skills capable of doing a fitting with a client. Strong attention to detail. Creative problem solving and an active interest in the sustainable and circular fashion.
