Yesterday was SUCH a fun day. Jenni and I went on a little trip to Saffron Walden, and we had a fab mooch around the charity shops (amazeballs dungarees, kooky tins and cropped jumpers purchased). But the most exciting part of the day, was visiting Sew Susie which I have been dying to do since Susie opened!

She has such a beautiful shop, and is such a beautiful person too 🩷 we love sending people her way, because as you know, whilst we sell some lush patchwork fabrics, we don't do any dress making fabrics, so she's your girl! Plus some gorgeous yarns (I bought some lush local spun and dyed yarn which I will show you later), and the most adorable notions and buttons!

Ahhhh, who remembers the classic photo post of Instagram in days gone by. Before videos, before carousels, before everything had to catch the scrollers eye?

It's Sunday morning and I'm the only one up. This is a rare occurrence as I don't do mornings, and rely on Mr Sconch to bring me coffee (a fair exchange for being the one who sits up with the children-who-do-not-sleep at crazy hours). But my brain is being loud, and I'm running costings and shades and plans and costings (and did I mention costings?) over and over which is not conducive to sleep.

Did you know electricity for business properties has gone up 25% in recent months? That's quite a lot. In a shop that was already costing around £400 a month last year to heat in the winter (hello electric heaters). There's only so many wool jumpers you can fit on top of each other.

Still, Autumn/Winter yarns are arriving, and Christmas fabrics are on their way. And you're all going to buy them, so we're all good, yes?

If only a certain yarn supplier hasn't just sent us their A/W yarns but specified we can't share them on social media or our website until mid September, eh? We've still got to pay for them of course. We just can't show you. We've just got to hope you like guessing games and want to come in to the shop to see them.

It's ok though. I've got this.

We are SO excited to have the fabulous Claire Montgomerie back with us this September for her amazeballs class based around her best selling Granny Square Card Decks.

Yes, the viral craze that was her decks that caused crazy black market versions to start doing the rounds because they sold out in record time. I kid you not, they were like gold dust, and going for a crazy price on the black market of the Yarny world. Who knew a thing existed?!! 🤣🤣

Anyhoo, we've got the ACTUAL decks in stock and Claire is coming to show you how to take your granny squares to the next level!

We've got 2 classes on 12th September, the first is based around her original card deck, and the afternoon is based on the Flowers Deck, and will also touch on her 3rd deck on granny stitches.

Everyone from confident beginners are welcome on this class. And Claire will also talk you through chart reading!!

And if you book both, there's a cheeky little discount (applied automatically at the checkout!)

Moooorning! Very excited to be launching our Great Big Hat Appeal!

We need Newborn hats (fun designs, any fibre as long as it's soft) and Adult Hats (must be green, any weight apart from Super Chunky please!)

Buckle up, it's a long one.

We've had a 1 star review. Which is fine, not everyone will love us.

But I don't think this was justified. Because at no point do we *force* people to shop with us.

So here's my response.

(I missed the part where we actually make a slight loss on postage at the moment. We take the hit to be competitive. But nevermind.)

What do you think? Am I wrong?

We've had an absolutely amazeballs week of classes, with lots of happy children leaving the shop!

Tuesday was French Knitting. We had grand plans of jewellery and name signs with wired letters. But sometimes, you've got to let the kids lead the way, and so instead we had an actual army of snails! Complete with slimy snail trails 🤣🤣 swipe to watch the video...

Thursday was Pompom Mania, and we had wreaths and creatures on the go, which was just the most fun! It was so great to see everybody's imaginations and creativity come alive with choosing colours and sizing 🥰

We've got one more round of classes left (not this coming week, but the following), with weaving and arm/finger knitting planned.

And don't forget, in September our Crochet Club is starting! Woot woot! Make sure you book your little crochet superstars (and future superstars - we'll be teaching them!) on to secure their place... All abilities (including beginners!) are welcome! 🩷

It's very much been a catch-up-on-jobs kind of few days. We've got new classes added to the website (more still to come!) and new products are being added too, plus a bit of boring accounts catch up 🙈🤣

I've spent an afternoon cutting fat quarters as the baskets were looking quite depleted! Make sure you take a look at Stories to see my littlest helper hard at work folding them! 💜

We've had rotary blades delivered this week, as well as cutting mats, so they'll be on the website this weekend. And EPP papers should be here within a week with any luck!! Woot woot!!
