Mae Kandoo

Mae Kandoo Original designs. Handmade using authentic vintage and other up-cycled fabrics. Bringing craft to homes and workplaces through a range of creative workshops.

Designer-maker Vikki Walsh launched Mae Kandoo in July 2012. Inspired by vintage designs & her passion for vintage textiles and haberdashery, Vikki draws upon a wealth of skills to 'make & do'. Mae Kandoo's products include bags, homewares, seasonal gifts & sew your own kits. Our products encompass key trends which are influencing the evolution of the craft market in the UK: original designs which

are handmade, authentic vintage and eco-friendly. Mae Kandoo's creative workshop service is set to thrive as the trend for participating in craft continues to grow. As well as developing an appreciation for handmade products, Mae Kandoo's workshops integrate practical skills which give consumers a sense of control, achievement and resourcefulness. With the option to choose from a core range of workshops (which is constantly growing!) or to request a workshop tailored to meet your needs, there's plenty to choose from. We see craft as a lifestyle choice. Our 'sew your own' kits mean that you can enjoy getting crafty in the comfort of your own home.

Earlier this year I facilitated a series of Repair workshops thanks to funding from They want to reduce the amount of textile waste that is disposed of in household waste! People who attended were given the option to bank repairs/reuse of clothes (and household textiles!). So...this is an update!
For anyone who came along to learn Sashiko or visible mending, please do share photos or send me a message to let me know ...can tally them in to include in an update at the end of September! Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who attended workshop/s for the Repair & Reuse project. Whether you learned Sashiko stitching, Visible Mending, how to make yarn by reusing old T-shirts or how to repurpose jeans to make a skirt...you all engaged enthusiastically! Great to see some familiar faces and to meet different people too. Hopefully being given the tools, along with the skills you learned, you will be able to continue with repair/reuse ventures at home.
Please do send photos or let me know about mends etc ...then we can bank the savings!!
Enjoy using your weapons against mass production! and the meditative process of repair!
Finally, look what's been banked to date! Feel free to share with others and tell them about the Savings Bank! Or maybe...show them how to repair...
Thanks! again
