!Happy Lima Day the city founded under a tree !🌳🇵🇪

Officially founded January 18th 1535 by Francisco Pizarro under a tree known as the "Tree of Huarango" in what is now Plaza Mayor.

The name "Lima" comes from the Quechua word "Rímac," which means "talker" or "speaker." This is thought to refer to the Rímac River which flows through the city.

According to legend, the river was believed to be a deity that could speak and provide answers to the people who consulted it and was known as the Talking River!

Lima is also where one half of Inti Handcrafts hails from 🤩
