🚗 Blue Badge holders can drive into central London for free, but only if you register first.

The Congestion Charge rose to £18 a day in January 2026, and badge holders are entitled to a 100% discount. It applies whether you're the driver or a passenger, and covers up to two vehicles. The catch is that it isn't automatic. Until TfL confirms your registration you'll pay the full charge, so it's worth sorting before your next trip.

If your bus pass has ever left you paying for the 8am journey to work, that's about to change.

From 1 April 2027, disabled bus passes in England will be valid at any time of day, every day of the week. No more waiting until 09:30 on weekdays. It's a change that took two years of campaigning by disabled people and their supporters, and it brings England in line with Scotland and Wales, where all-day travel is already the norm.

Learning to drive as a disabled person comes with hurdles other learners never think about, from finding an instructor with an adapted car to working out which controls suit you.

Specialist instructor Chris Kingsley shares what really makes the difference, and we've updated the piece with where to go now that QEF has closed. Driving Mobility's network of around 20 accredited centres across the UK still offers driving assessments, adaptation advice and wheelchair loading assessments, and you don't always need a referral to book.
