An orphaned Asiatic leopard cub in Myanmar's Hukawng Valley lost its mother to hunters who intended to sell her body parts for traditional medicine. In 2010, the government of Myanmar designated the entire valley, approximately the size of Vermont, as a tiger sanctuary. This conservation step safeguards not only big cats but also other rare species throughout the territory.
