Goodbye or see you later?

I've spent the last year setting up my new venture, www.curiousbynurture.co.uk where I offer childcare and home-ed tuition.

My dream was to find a life partner, have babies and set up a business that kept us all close. I'm incredibly grateful that this dream has come true.

I may pop up doing bits and bobs with Sew Darn Good, but I won't be offering repairs and alterations anymore.

I've been spending most of my time on my new venture, but I had to share my wedding dress with you all.

This is a genuine 70s number that I found on eBay for £15. It needed no alterations. A perfect fit and just the look I wanted. I couldn't believe my luck.

Next time you're looking for something special, take a risk, look for something vintage or secondhand. Save money, save resources, be unique.

I delivered a lovely sashiko stitching workshop this morning with a group of sewing newbies. 🪡✂️

It was a very social affair, with homemade brownies, muffins and nutty flapjacks with hot drinks. 🍰☕

This group are all making different things. It's great because they get to learn different skills by seeing each other's making processes. 👀

We've got two tote bags, some sandwich and loaf wraps and cushion covers being created. 🪡

Tell the government to act now to ban climate-wrecking new oil and gas fields and invest in cheaper, cleaner renewable energy and home insulation.

I had my first sewing workshop of the year today with a bunch of lovely people. It was the first session of my 6 week introduction to sewing course 🪡

I'm lying in the bath with a raging ear infection and subsequent perforated eardrum, reflecting as I often have on how to be more balanced 👂

I'm a sucker for working too hard until I burn out. My neurodiversity coupled with my upbringing in a capitalist society (world ) have created in me a real difficulty in regulating myself 🧘🏼‍♀️

I often find myself scrolling my phone (don't most of us) when I really need stimulation. But I often can't figure out what I need in the moment and the seemingly endless possibilities are overwhelming 🤯

So I created this little visual using I'm going to print this out and put it around the house as well as have it handy on my phone 🖼️

Working towards balance and taking better care of my mind and body will continue to be major goals this year 🙏

Season's Greetings everyone! I haven't been here much recently having been busy with my second baby but I'm excited to get back into regular sewing this coming year! 🎆

Some workshops I'm thinking of running:
- felt flower bouquets 💐
- felt flower wreaths 🌼
- repair skills (patching, darning, replacing zips and buttons) 🪡
- alteration skills (adjust the size, length, shape of clothes) ✂️
- 6 week introduction to sewing course for those who want to feel confident in the basics (I've run this a few times!) 👩🏼‍🎓

I will also be continuing to run my repairs and alterations service which includes bridal and formal wear 👰🏼‍♀️

I've had a rough two weeks. I managed to get a concussion and hurt my back at softplay. Impressive right 🤣

I've been on strict rest the last few days but today I needed to do something creative and decided to make Christmas presents for friends and family. 🎁

I'll let you in on a little secret. When I sew I like to watch stuff, I always have. Today I watched Twilight (sorry not sorry) for perhaps the 50th time while getting my creatine juices flowing. I have to be honest I haven't felt more like me in aaaaages. ❤️
