Reduce, reuse, recycle.

The underarm "air vents" on this gi took a real battering during kumite. I opted to replace it with fabric matching the main garment (taken from a pair of ripped gi trousers that couldn't be mended). Double rows of stitching should make it nice and secure. 🥋

Shortened a standard sleeve with vent and buttons for a Groom's jacket by 1 inch. The decorative stitching on the sleeve cuffs which imitates the button hole look were unpicked to shorten the sleeves at the cuff. The buttons were carefully removed and later replaced, with care taken to press the new seam (and new interfacing) into place whilst pattern matching the fabric. A really enjoyable project for someone who loves precision work!
