In praise of O’Connells

I’ve just picked up an amazing shirt which has prompted me to feature it this week.

It’s from a label we rarely see here in the UK but is deserving of much more attention.

O’Connells of Buffalo, New York is one of those small well run family businesses that became a success without compromising their ethos and how despite times moving on, have embraced the internet in a way that should have saved more heritage businesses like theirs.
For Ivy aficionados, brands like J Press and Brooks Brothers are often cited as the “go to” style brands but if you dig a little deeper you’ll discover there are still businesses out there who have survived due to the quality of their goods and a real commitment to a loyal customer base.
Brands like Cable Car Clothiers of San Francisco and O’Connells of New York are perfect examples.

Vintage pieces from O’Connells own brand line are pretty hard to find, we’ve had a few bits at Heritage & Ivy but they rarely come in.
The Madras shirt featured below is just a lovely thing and is sure to be snapped up quickly.

I would recommend you take a look around the O’Connells website and keep your eyes peeled for vintage pieces by the brand, they’re becoming collectors items!
