Hundreds of families were forced to flee the Iraqi town of Jalawla when it was overrun with ISIS jihadis in 2014 but despite it now being liberated by government forces many are still too afraid to return.

[email protected]: I’ll be taking over the Oxfam GB instagram account this week to post pics from a recent assignment in Iraq, where a decade of instability culminating in the war against ISIS has left 3.4 million people displaced.

This picture was taken in the burnt out remains of a home in Jalawla, a town in Diyala province that was occupied by ISIS in August 2014. The building had been set on fire and later hit by a rocket. Satarr fled before ISIS arrived and only saw the damage on his return several months later. Somehow the victims of Iraq’s wars never seem to lose their dignity. He seemed like such a kind and gentle man, as he led us around his home to see the damage. Many of Jalawla’s residents remain displaced.

In 2012 alone, Coldplay helped Oxfam's GROW Campaign message reach over 100 million people worldwide, thanks to their social media networks and Oxfam's presence on their world tour.

This year Coldplay have invited Oxfam to join them again as they set off on their Head Full of Dreams world tour. On the tour we’ll be asking Coldplay fans to join together and STAND AS ONE with people forced to flee conflict and disaster.
