We've not known the community centre without Kate and will miss her. So on Tuesday, Jill presented Kate with a card signed by us all and a gift, to say thank you for all her help and support - and to wish Kate all the very best in her well-deserved retirement.

Since FB changed the way this page works, our intro has shrunk, so here's a reminder about our groups. (Both are on today, so why not drop in and join us? Bring something you're making, or come for a chat ) Knit and Natter meets every Tuesday in the Esk Lounge, Longtown Community Centre from 10am to 12. There's also a Craft and Chatter group which meets once a fortnight on Tuesday evenings, from 6.45pm to 8.45pm. (It's on tonight!) In both cases the cost is £3 and we ask you to bring your own mug for tea/coffee. While Knit and Natter members mostly knit and crochet, there are often other things going on, from altering curtains to lace-making or spinning. If you're a beginner, someone will be able to help with questions and there are often patterns to share and trips to Craft exhibitions and markets. Our members also do a lot of knitting for the hospital and the other charities we support. Craft and Chatter is a smaller group, so far, but also with a mixture of interests - eg embroidery, needle felting and diamond painting, though mainly crochet and knitting. Whichever group you choose, you'd be very welcome.

Unfortunately I can't go due to the Royal Highland Show, but this could be a great day out. It's replacing Woolfest that used to be held in Cockermouth - and there's a pick up point at Gretna Gateway. Details in the post below. Sorry - that bit hasn't shared.
The coach is organised by Anne Arnold of Dumfries Guild of Spinners, Weavers, and Dyers The cost is £20 for the coach and £10 entrance ticket which have been purchased in advance as it allows us in at an earlier time. To book please message Anne's page, Solway Woolscapes via Facebook, or text 07901 272294. Leaves Dumfries at 8.30am, an earlier pickup at Lockerbie and en route at Gretna Gateway
