THREAD DESIGN are looking for highly skilled textile prototypers/confident machine sewers, ideally with experience handling and range of fabrics from stretch to tough outdoor fabrics, to help us develop medical devices for our clients.
Products, fabrics and construction methods are very diverse. eg. Rucksacks, pouches for medical devices, technical high stretch sports clothing, hygiene products and many other items. So could suit a costume maker/designer perfectly
You will assist the head of prototyping, designer and engineer to develop, iterate and prototype a wide range of products all with a textile element. We make prototypes of all stages of the development process from problem solving ‘lash-ups’ to high quality ‘golden’ samples and small batch production for testing and clinical trials.
The ideal candidates would:
Be confident using industrial sewing and overlock machines
Have a keen eye for detail and be eager to learn.
Tasks may include, using laser cutters and 3D printers, using industrial sewing machinery to sew prototypes, using heat presses and other heat tools to bond and form parts, photographing and documenting products as well as maintaining the general upkeep of the prototyping studio and the material stocks.
Training for all specific machinery and its software will be provided. Experience using Adobe illustrator would be beneficial.
