I’m Back! Travel Tales, Fresh Energy, and This Weekend’s Green Fayre

Hello everyone! If you’ve stopped by the shop recently, you might have noticed things were briefly on pause. I’ve just returned from a wonderful, multi-week break away from the leather world, and I am feeling incredibly refreshed, inspired, and deeply blessed to have had the opportunity to take this time out. My travels took me on a beautiful mix of far-flung adventures and peaceful retreats closer to home....

Yesterday I showed you the finished repair, but here is the glamorous reality of how it actually happened! 🧵👀

Patching up worn-out corners often means "blind sewing" - left hand stuffed inside the bag, completely relying on muscle memory and feel to find the holes. It’s a patient game of hide-and-seek, but getting those stitches locked in perfectly makes it all worth it.

The hidden side of traditional leatherwork! 🛠️

A classic bag back in action and a very happy customer! 💼✨

This one came into the workshop needing some serious love on its worn-out corners and torn zip. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of handing a restored piece back to its owner and seeing that smile.

Curious about how the corners actually get repaired? Keep an eye out tomorrow for a closer look at the workshop struggle (and skill!) it took to patch this piece back together.

At least I cut the leather better than I cut this video! ✂️🎬

I was aiming for a slick special effect where this new oak bark tanned leather book cover magically disappears. Instead, I think I just proved that my video editing skills are a bit more "rough and ready" than my leatherwork!

Glitchy transitions aside, this leather is absolutely beautiful, full of character, and built to last a lifetime. (Even if it struggles to stay visible in this clip).

Sound ON for this one! 🔊 The ultimate woodland ASMR.

Spent Saturday watching my friend Duncan peeling oak bark in a beautiful Cumbrian coppice. The sound as it pulls away from the wood is incredible.

This bark will be heading down to Devon to tan the premium leather I use for my belts, bags, and book covers. From a standing tree in Cumbria to a finished heritage piece in your hands—it doesn’t get much better than that. 🍂💼

What a brilliant **Weekend in the Woods** in Silverdale! 🪵✨
I had the absolute pleasure of teaching these three lovely folk how to make their own leather gear, and they absolutely smashed it. Just look at those proud smiles!

Over the weekend, they hand-crafted:
* 2 Billhook sheaths
* 1 Axe sheath
* 1 Custom belt

Not only did they walk away with some beautiful, durable gear, but we also had a fantastic laugh doing it. Teaching dedicated, fun people like this reminds me exactly why I love what I do.

A massive thank you to the Coppice Association North West for organizing such a wonderful event. Until next time! 🪓🔨

I’ve been hard at work in the workshop making a fresh batch of these custom necklace pouches designed specifically for a Whitby classic pocket knife.

They'll be available this weekend, alongside all your favourite handcrafted leather goods at the Medieval Fair in Ormskirk. Whether you’re looking for a rugged new belt, a hand-stitched wallet, or a unique book cover, I’ve got you covered.

Where to find me from 11 'til 4, Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th May:
📍 Ormskirk Medieval Fair
🌳 Coronation Park
⚔️ Come soak up the atmosphere and say hello at the stall!

The hand-over from the Manufacturing Department to the Shipping Department is looking pretty seamless today. 📦✨

Just another day at Morgan Leather, where the staff meetings are just me talking to my coffee.

It’s a one-person show, which means:
Pros: I’m the employee of the month, every month.
Cons: I’m the only one available to take out the bins.

I don't know what my *ahem* twin brother was up to yesterday in the willow patch. He seemed very proud of himself for tidying up last year's rods, but the one thing I *can* vouch for is his gear.

I designed and made the secateurs holster he's wearing, and I think it's the perfect companion for anyone out in the field. It's crafted from beautiful **oak bark tanned leather** and built to fit most secateur shapes. My favorite feature is the quick-release strap - you can put it on or take it off your belt without having to undo a single buckle.

Available now in **Brown** or **Natural** on my website and Etsy shop. Link in bio to upgrade your own essential kit!
