It’s with a heavy heart that Lords Courtyard near settle is closing down on the 4th of August. We want to say a big thank you to everybody that has been involved from staff, customers to stallholder!!
The Auctions are being moved to Lords Antiques and salvage at Ingleton.

Our last Auction at Lords Courtyard is on the 3rd of August then our first auction in Ingleton is on the 7th of September we hope to see everybody there….. onwards and upwards 👆

We're excited to announce that our latest auction catalogue is available to view online. With 442 lots including lot 136 - Stoneware flagon, inscribed Shepherd & Walker, Settle, salt glaze finish. Along with several bottles of malt whisky, Leeds UTD. memorabilia, uranium/vaseline glass, Lalique, Moorcroft, vintage toys, collectables plus much more.

The auction will be held at Lords Courtyard, Settle, on Monday 29/06/2026 at 11:30. Our viewing room is open from 10-5pm daily until auction day, when we will be open from 09:30am for pre-auction viewing.

We look forward to welcoming you on the day, it's a great day out, with food and drink available all day.

🎶 FUN FACT FRIDAY! 🎶

Ever wondered what’s actually happening when you put a needle on a record and what it looks like?🤔✨

Look closely at the image below 👀 – those tiny, wiggly grooves aren’t just random lines… they’re a physical map of the music! 🗺️🎵 As the record spins, the needle follows those curves and vibrations → turns them into sound waves → and boom! 📻🎧 Your favourite songs come alive. Stereo records even have two sides of sound in one groove – left channel on the wall, right on the other wall! 🎚️🎛️

📜 History flashback! 🕰️ The very first sound recording that could be played back was made way back in 1877 by Thomas Edison 🧠💡 – his phonograph used tinfoil wrapped around a cylinder. It wasn’t until 1887 that Emile Berliner invented the flat disc record we know and love today! 💿💯

🐦 FUN FACT FRIDAY 🐦

This week we’re talking about pigeons — and they are far more impressive than you might think! 🕊️

Did you know pigeons were real heroes in both World Wars? They were used to carry vital messages across enemy lines, often flying hundreds of miles through terrible conditions, and saved thousands of lives. They were so trusted that some even received medals for bravery! 🇬🇧

And here’s an amazing recent discovery: just recently, a mummified war pigeon was found hidden inside a chimney in Surrey had a tiny message canister still attached to its leg, with a handwritten note inside. It was dated 1944, sent by a unit in France, and addressed to a military HQ in England — but the text was written in a code that hasn’t been cracked to this day.
